Amendment Process Announcement for H.R. 1892

August 31, 2011

Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules may meet the week of September 5th to grant a rule that could limit the amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 1892, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

, which is available on the Rules Committee website.

Members should also be advised that the classified Schedule of Authorizations and the classified Annex accompanying the bill will be available for review by Members at the offices of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence beginning any time after the report is filed.  It is important that Members keep in mind the requirements of clause 13 of rule XXIII, which only permit access to classified information by those Members of the House who have signed the oath provided for in the rule.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format.  Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian, the Committee on the Budget, and the Congressional Budget Office to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act.  If you have any questions, please contact myself or Stephen Cote of the Committee staff at extension 5-9191.

Sincerely,

DAVID DREIER
