Amendment Process Announcement for H.R. 830

March 4, 2011

Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules is likely to meet as early as Tuesday, March 8, 2011 to grant a rule for the consideration of H.R. 830, the FHA Refinance Program Termination Act, which may require that amendments be printed in the Congressional Record prior to their consideration. In order to ensure that you are able to have your amendments considered, all amendments should be submitted for printing in the Congressional Record on or before the legislative day of Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Please visit the Rules Committee website (www.rules.house.gov) for additional information following committee action next week.

The bill was ordered reported by the Committee on Financial Services on March 3, 2011 and made available electronically on the Rules Committee website on March 4, 2011. Members should draft their amendments to the bill as ordered reported.  Also, a more detailed description of the “pre-printing” process can be found on the Rules Committee website

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian, the Committee on the Budget, and the Congressional Budget Office to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Stephen Cote of the Committee staff at extension 5-9191.

Sincerely,

David Dreier
