Sessions Applauds Passage of Legislation to Protect Small Businesses, Producers and Consumers

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of the Country of Origin Labeling Amendments Act of 2015, a bill that brings the United States into compliance with WTO guidelines:

“Failure to comply with WTO obligations would put small businesses, producers and American consumers at risk to face billions of dollars in increased tariffs. The United States relies on the ability to export meats to Mexico and Canada and this legislation allows our nation to continue this practice without facing unnecessary burdens. This important bill provides our producers, farmers and ranchers with the ability to grow their business by ensuring compliance with WTO obligations.”
