Sessions: House Republicans have upheld a long-standing promise to protect our homeland

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of Senate Amendment to H.R. 33, Making Further Continuing Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2015:

“Today the House of Representatives voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security until March 6, 2015.  House Republicans have upheld a long-standing promise to protect our homeland and tonight we prevented President Obama and Democrats from shutting down the Department. I will continue to fight President Obama’s unwise, unlawful, and unconstitutional executive amnesty. The steps we have taken today will keep the Department of Homeland Security open while the House and Senate continue to work out our differences. It is my sincere hope that my colleagues in the Senate will defend the Constitution and stand against the President’s unlawful actions.”
