Sessions Praises Legislation Supporting Quality Charter Schools

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding H.R. 10, the Success and Opportunity through Quality Charter Schools Act:

“As we celebrate National Charter Schools Week, I’m delighted that the House will act on a bipartisan proposal to strengthen the Charter School Program and support choice, innovation, and excellence in education.  In order to give our nation’s students the educational opportunities that they deserve, we need first-rate schools and teachers in our communities. The Success and Opportunity through Quality Charter Schools Act would increase the number of high-quality charter schools and allow successful models to be replicated across the country.

“I look forward to having my dear friend Todd Rokita, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, appear before the Rules Committee today. The Chairman’s expertise and dedication to creating a strong education system to prepare our children to compete in today’s global economy will allow for a robust and thoughtful discussion on this important bill.”
