Sessions Statement on NDAA Passage

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 1960, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2014:

“The National Defense Authorization Act provides our nation’s military with the resources they need and gives our men and women in uniform the support they deserve. In addition to funding our Armed Forces, this bill ensures adequate levels of military preparedness, takes meaningful steps to address sexual assault in our military, and provides our servicemen and women with a pay increase.

“The Rules Committee provided for a robust debate of NDAA under an open process – making in order a total of 172 amendments, roughly divided between the parties. This action reflects our Majority’s commitment to enabling the House to work its will on behalf of the American people.  I applaud Chairman McKeon’s work on this important, bipartisan bill and urge my colleagues in the Senate to join us in supporting an appropriately-funded and well-equipped military to defend our great nation.”
