Sessions Statement on Passage of Job-Creating Critical Minerals Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 761, the National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act:

“House Republicans are committed to legislation that makes government more efficient, creates jobs, and promotes private-sector investment.  That is why I was proud to support H.R. 761, legislation that streamlines our nation’s mine permitting processes to remove excessive bureaucratic hurdles that often delay mining activities by up to a decade.

“Currently, our nation is overly dependent on foreign countries for rare-earth elements that are vital to our manufacturing sector and everyday appliances like computers and health care equipment.  This common-sense bill will help U.S. companies tap into critical mineral resources here at home, encourage investment into our economy, and empower much-needed 21st century jobs.”
