WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 161, Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act:
“Today I voted to provide much-needed natural gas to many areas of the country where the demand for energy is high but pipeline infrastructure is insufficient. Natural gas is abundant and affordable. As a result, American families and businesses are beginning to rely on it as a primary fuel source. Providing Americans with cheaper energy will lower home energy prices, promote domestic manufacturing, and help create good-paying American jobs. That is why House Republicans have supported a common sense solution to modernize a permitting process that has fallen victim to big government bureaucracies. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill and put it on the President’s desk.”
