Sessions Supports Lifting the Ban on Crude Oil Exports

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of a measure that would lift the export ban on crude oil:

“Families have struggled for too long with soaring gas prices, and as a proud Texan I am dedicated to doing everything I can to help ease the burden at the pump for those in my home state and across the country. The bill, which today passed the House would strengthen our economy, create jobs and increase energy independence. The United States is one of the world’s leading producers of petroleum, and this ban is holding our economy back.

“During a time in which other countries are using oil as a political bargaining chip, the United States has the potential to be a key energy supplier to the world. President Obama recently entered into an agreement to lift Iran’s oil embargo, and today the House called on him to do the same for our nation.”
