Sessions Supports Repeal of Medical Device Excise Tax

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of the Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2015, legislation that eliminates an unfair excise tax that discourages medical innovation:

“One of the many job-killing, burdensome regulations imposed by Obamacare includes a tax on important medical devices that threatens the health care industry, a staple of our economy. Today House Republicans voted to repeal this tax and support an industry that employs thousands of Americans and is a major exporter to foreign markets. I strongly support this legislation that prioritizes innovation, lowers heath care costs and takes steps to repeal this onerous  law.”
