Sessions Votes to Support Armed Services, Ensure Rule of Law When Dealing with Illegal Immigration

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act as well as an amendment to strike language that would allow illegal immigrants to serve in the U.S. military:

“Allowing illegal immigrants to serve in our military is wholly inconsistent with thoroughly vetted Republican philosophy.

“I stood with Congressman Brooks to prevent backdoor executive amnesty through our annual defense bill. With the inclusion of his amendment, the NDAA measure is a good bill that adequately funds our armed services to ensure our military has the strength and capability to execute all of its missions. There is nothing more fundamental to the United States than defending our freedom in the face of unprecedented global instability – NDAA authorizes funding for our military with this philosophy in mind.”
