The Committee on Rules is likely to meet as early as Monday, March 5, 2012 to grant a rule for the consideration of H.R. 2842, the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act of 2011, which may require that amendments be printed in the Congressional Record prior to their consideration. A more detailed description of the “pre-printing” process can be found on the Rules Committee website. The bill was reported, as amended, by the Committee on Natural Resources on December 1, 2011. Members should draft their amendments to the bill as ordered reported.
Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian, the Committee on the Budget, and the Congressional Budget Office to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Lydia Calio of the Committee staff at extension 5-9191.
