Good afternoon.
At the beginning of the 118th Congress, House Republicans committed to restoring regular order to the annual appropriations process. In recent years, a consensus-driven work product has been replaced by a failed status quo. The American people deserve better than the constant cycle of colossal multi-bill omnibus packages pushed right before a funding deadline. The dysfunction is further permeated by a lack of committee process, limited amendments, and inability of members to debate and revise legislation.

The Committee has previously met and taken testimony on H.R. 4365, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2024, and H.R. 4368, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2024.
