Congress Sends Keystone XL Pipeline Bill to President Obama

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of S. 1, Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act:

“After six years of unnecessary, politically driven delays a bill to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline is finally headed to the President’s desk.  Since receiving the application for the Keystone XL pipeline, the State Department has issued five reports confirming that this project is in the best interest for our economy and the environment.  The Keystone pipeline is widely supported by the American people because it is an important infrastructure project that will create thousands of jobs, increase our energy security, and inject billions of dollars into the American economy.  I urge the President to sign this bipartisan, common-sense piece of legislation instead of blocking the opportunity for American families to have access to thousands of much needed jobs and the ability to save more of their hard-earned income.”
