Sessions: All Americans Deserve Relief from ObamaCare

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2668, the Fairness for American Families Act, and H.R. 2667, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act:

“Since ObamaCare was signed into law, House Republicans have led the charge to repeal and replace it with responsible reforms that will ensure access to quality, affordable health care. Not only does ObamaCare negatively impact our nation’s health care system, but it has proven to be a massive burden on job creation.  As a direct result of the law, one in five small businesses have laid off workers while two in five have stopped hiring and part-time work has skyrocketed.

“The Administration recently made a unilateral decision to delay enforcement of a part of the law – the employer mandate – because it is unworkable and damaging to job creators and our economy.  House Republicans voted today through the proper legislative process to delay not only the employer mandate, but also the individual mandate.  If the Administration wants to provide businesses with relief from ObamaCare, it should also provide individuals and families with the same protection from the harms of the law. I’m pleased that House Republicans acted today to dismantle ObamaCare piece-by-piece while we continue to fight for a full repeal.”
