Sessions Votes to Disapprove EPA Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of a resolution that provides Congressional disapproval of the “Clean Water Rule: Definition of ‘Waters of the United States’”:

“President Obama has spent the past seven years implementing a vast regulatory agenda, and the so-called ‘Waters of the United States’ rule is yet another example of the excessive regulations placed on hard-working Americans. If implemented, this particular rule would put almost every body of water in the United States under Environmental Protection Agency control, placing unwarranted burdens on farmers, manufacturers and small business owners. The Obama administration failed to take the input of state and local government leaders – those who know their communities the best – into consideration when determining these guidelines. I am calling on the president to rethink his actions and, for a change, do something good for the American economy by halting the implementation of this rule.”
