Sessions Votes to Promote Job Creation, Reduce Unnecessary Compliance Costs

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement after voting in favor of a bill to amend title 5, United States Code, to postpone the effective date of high impact rules pending judicial review:

“Thus far, the Obama administration has issued 21 regulations that burden Americans with more than $1 billion in yearly costs, with 79,230 pages of new regulations totaling $98.9 billion in 2015 alone. Many times these onerous rules are challenged in court, while hardworking Americans and small businesses are forced to pay the costs of increased regulations as the lawsuit continues. The important piece of legislation that today passed the House stops such rules from taking effect until all court challenges to the regulations in question have been settled. This common sense bill prevents Americans already facing financial burdens from paying large sums of unnecessary compliance costs, dollars that could be better spent investing in job creation.”
