Sessions Votes to Take Care of Nation's Troops and Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement on the House’s passage of H.R. 4974, the FY 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act:

“Today the House acted to make sure the brave individuals who take care of us, our nation’s troops and veterans, are taken care of themselves. Members of our nation’s military make selfless and incredible sacrifices and it is our duty to make sure they have the services and benefits they have earned. This bill addresses shortages and management problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs in order to provide more efficient and effective service to veterans, and also cuts unnecessary military construction by $305 million from FY16. I thank our nation’s troops for their service, and applaud passage of this bill.”
