We are here for the adoption of the committee rules and other business related to the organization of the committee for the 118th Congress.

Before we begin today’s organizational meeting, I wanted to take a minute to welcome everyone to the Rules Committee.

ANNOUNCEMENT

H.R. 357 - Ensuring Accountability in Agency Rulemaking Act

Dear Colleague:                  

The Committee on Rules may meet the week of December 11th to provide for floor consideration of H.R. 357.

If a Member wishes to offer an amendment for consideration, they must submit a searchable electronic copy of the amendment, which should be provided by the Office of Legislative Counsel, via the Rules Committee’s website by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.  Please note that staff must be on the House network, either physically or remotely via virtual private network (VPN), in order to access the online submission form.

Members should draft their amendments to the text of H.R. 357, which is available on the Rules Committee website.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format.   • H.R. 4468 - Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023
  • H.R. 5933 - Defending Education Transparency and Ending Rogue Regimes Engaging in Nefarious Transactions (DETERRENT) Act
  • H.J. Res. 88 - Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to Improving Income Driven Repayment for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program and the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program.
