Sessions: House Votes to Boost Energy Production and Revive Our Economy
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2, the American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs & More American Jobs Act and H.R. 4, the Jobs for America Act:
"Today the House passed two important pieces of legislation to boost domestic energy production and jump-start the economy. The American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs & More American Jobs Act would get the federal government out of the way of our country’s energy boom. Overall, this bipartisan package of bills would lower energy prices, strengthen the economy, and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources while paving the way toward American energy independence.
"The Jobs for America Act aims to get Americans back to work. This legislative package would restore certainty in our tax code, streamline regulations, and bring transparency to the regulatory process. The economic recovery has been too slow for too many people. At a time when American families are looking for good-paying jobs, House Republicans have put together a package of bills to help businesses begin hiring again. I urge the Senate and White House to join our effort to create jobs, cut energy costs, and reinvigorate the economy."
