Press Releases 118th Congress
As prepared for delivery:
Good afternoon.
First off, I want to start tonight by saying thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family and sent letters, flowers, and warm wishes our way. The loss of a child is something that I would never wish upon my worst enemy. Your thoughts and prayers have helped our family as we have dealt with this new reality, and we appreciate each of you more than you know.
As prepared for delivery:
Good afternoon.
I hope everyone on this committee, including our two panels and our staff, had a restful Thanksgiving and extended break. I have been around for a few Decembers after an election and can speak from experience that the time with friends and family is a blessing as we reach the final stretch of this Congress.
As prepared for delivery:
Good afternoon.
House Republicans promised the American people that we would cut bureaucratic red tape, put our economy on the right track, and lower energy costs. Securing American energy independence was a monumental achievement of the last Trump Administration. An achievement squandered by the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats over the last four years.
As prepared for delivery:
Good afternoon.
For four years, Americans were left to fend for themselves amidst the fallout of the Biden-Harris Administration’s failed decision-making. Under their leadership, inflation soared, energy prices reached record highs, illegal immigration exploded, and the geopolitical order our nation created over generations crumbled. Instead of owning up to their mistakes, Democrats refused to acknowledge reality.
As prepared for delivery:
Good morning.
I would like to welcome everyone to the House Committee on Rules’ Member Day for the 118th Congress. Pursuant to Section 3(h) of H. Res. 5, the Committee is convening this memberday to hear from the broader body about issues under this Committee’s jurisdiction. I am glad to see the interest and participation of the membership off our committee and look forward to hearing their ideas.
As prepared for delivery:
Good afternoon.
As part of our Commitment to America, House Republicans pledged to strengthen the supply chain and defend America’s national security. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration’s weakness, an emboldened China still threatens those tenets.
WASHINGTON D.C. – Yesterday, by a vote of 416-0, the House of Representatives voted to establish a bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump. Chairman Michael C. Burgess (R-TX) brought the measure to the floor as part of the House Rules Committee's original jurisdiction.
As prepared for delivery:
We are at the cusp of four years under the Biden Administration—four years since we sat here, some virtually, to gavel in the 117th Congress and a new Administration. Upon reflection on what has happened over the last four years, I can only think of one word: debt.
Under the Biden Administration’s philosophy of “tax and spend our way out of a global pandemic,” the federal government has undergone a drastic transformation and expansion that has impacted every American life and pocketbook.
