Sessions Statement on Passage of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
January 22, 2015
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015:
“For decades, Congress has acted year after year to pass an amendment – the Hyde Amendment – during the appropriations process to ban federal taxpayer funding for abortions. A majority of Americans are opposed to federal funds being used for abortions, and today the House passed a common sense piece of legislation that prohibits the federal government’s involvement. It is time that this long-held policy become permanent law.”
