WASHINGTON, D.C. - On behalf of Rules Committee Republicans, Chairman Michael C. Burgess (R-TX) released the following statement on the passing of Rhonda Massie, wife of Congressman and Rules Committee Member Thomas Massie (R-KY):

"The Rules Committee is praying for the family of our dear fellow member, Representative Thomas Massie, as they go through this difficult time of grief. May his family feel the peace, comfort, and love from the people surrounding them."

Good afternoon.
 
In 2014, former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates famously stated then Vice President Biden: "Has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” Ten years later in 2024, Gates lamented how the deterrent power of the U.S. declined in the last several years and concluded, “Nobody seems to be afraid of us.” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out President Biden is the common denominator in this shocking turn of events.
