Good afternoon.
In 2014, former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates famously stated then Vice President Biden: "Has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” Ten years later in 2024, Gates lamented how the deterrent power of the U.S. declined in the last several years and concluded, “Nobody seems to be afraid of us.” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out President Biden is the common denominator in this shocking turn of events.

Without our nation’s military, the United States couldn’t hope to defend itself—let alone serve as the greatest force for freedom around the world. Congress has a constitutional duty to provide for the common defense and support our servicemembers’ mission. It’s why we’re here today.
