Chairman Pete Sessions Statement on Speaker Boehner’s Resignation

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement on House Speaker John Boehner’s announcement to resign at the end of October:

"It has been a pleasure to serve as chairman of the Speaker’s Committee and to serve alongside John Boehner in Congress. History will remember him as a devoted public servant and an earnest leader during challenging times, but also times of great accomplishment. The successes of the Congress during his time as Speaker -- including passage of the SGR, TPA, this week's flawlessly executed and historic visit from the Pope and this year’s joint meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel -- are all issues and events I have been proud to work on under Boehner's leadership. I wish John and his family all the best and I thank him for his years of hard work and devoted service in the House."
