WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement in response to Speaker Paul Ryan’s retirement announcement:
"Paul has always been a bright young leader who has pushed leading edge, conservative policy ideas. I have had the distinct pleasure of working with him throughout his time in Congress and especially during the past three years in his role as Speaker. As Chairman of the Rules Committee it has been an honor to help him move legislative victories through the House, including passing the largest overhaul to our tax code in decades and increasing resources to bolster our national security along with a number of pro-growth policies that have directly benefited American families. I wish Paul, Janna, and his entire family nothing but the best and sincerely thank him for his unwavering service to our great nation."
