Congress Must Act to Provide Relief to Western Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement following the House’s passage of a bill to provide drought relief to states in the Western United States, mainly California:

“The historic drought across the Western United States, mainly California, has had severe impacts on America’s food supply, economy and environment. Current conditions have been made worse because of bureaucratic hurdles and policies based upon outdated science, obstructing solutions that would otherwise provide relief. Water resources have been mismanaged, and I urge the Senate take action immediately to cut through this red tape and provide relief to these communities.”
