Dreier Praises Passage of Historic Rules Reforms by GOP Conference

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), House Rules Committee Chairman-designate, praised the passage of a historic package of rules reforms by the House Republican Conference tonight. The rules package will be the first major legislative business for the 112th Congress, which convenes tomorrow.

“These rules changes represent real reform for the people’s House,” Dreier said. “The new Republican Majority promised the American people a more fiscally responsible, accountable and transparent House and we are delivering with this rules package. From the new budget reforms to the increased transparency requirements, the House will be operating differently than any Congress before it. Adoption of this rules package will be just the first step in what promises to be a reform minded Congress. With economic growth and job creation our top priorities, these reforms will help us move forward and get to work on behalf of the American people.”

The final version of H. Res. 5 is now available here. A short explanation of the alterations made in tonight’s markup is available here.
