Sessions: America Must Continue to be a Leader in Space Exploration

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after passage of H.R. 2262 the SPACE Act of 2015, legislation that facilitates a pro-growth environment for the developing commercial space industry by encouraging private sector investment and creating more stable and predictable regulatory conditions:

“The burdens of government regulation should never interfere with discovery and exploration. America was once leading the space race, but that position is now being threatened by countries like China, India and Russia because these nations are making great investments in their space exploration programs. House Republicans voted to ensure American leadership in space by passing legislation that fosters a strong and vibrant commercial space industry. My home state of Texas has the potential to lead the commercial space industry in the United States, and this important piece of legislation will ensure the government won’t stand in the way.”
