Sessions: The American People Deserve Leaders Who Will Work Together

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 3273, the Deficit Reduction and Economic Growth Working Group Act of 2013:

“House Republicans continue to stand ready to work on solutions to end the government shutdown and prevent a default on our nation’s debt, but we need a willing partner at the table to achieve these goals. Unfortunately, Harry Reid and the President refuse to negotiate.

“The American people deserve leaders who will work together on a path forward for our nation.  That is why we approved legislation today to provide members from both sides of the aisle and both chambers of Congress with another venue for negotiation.  I urge the Senate to join our efforts to reopen the government, protect Americans from ObamaCare, and address the debt limit in a fiscally responsible manner.”
