Sessions Announces New Republican Rules Committee Staff

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), House Rules Committee Chairman designate, announced three additions to the Rules Committee’s Majority staff today.

Towner French, currently serving as Chief of Staff in Sessions’ office, will become the Deputy Staff Director for the Rules Committee in the 113th Congress. French previously served as a Rules Associate and Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Legislative and Budget Process for former Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL), as well as a Rules Associate for Congressman Sessions. Hugh Halpern will continue to function as the committee's Staff Director under Chairman Sessions, as he did under Chairman Dreier.

“Towner is a talented and hard-working professional whose expertise will be an asset to the Rules Committee,” Sessions said. “I am pleased to have him join our team that will work diligently to ensure that the House of Representatives remains accountable and transparent for the American people.”

Sessions also announced that Robert Cousins, who serves as Legislative Director and Rules Associate in Sessions’ office, will join the Rules Committee as Policy Director. Torrie Miller, Communications Director in Sessions’ office, will move to a new role as Communications Director for the Committee.

“Robert and Torrie will bring skill and energy to the Rules Committee, and I am delighted for them to join our team in the 113th Congress. As my colleagues and I work to tackle the challenges facing our nation during this critical time, I am confident in the abilities of our dedicated professionals at the Committee,” concluded Sessions.
