Sessions Applauds Passage of MilCon/VA & Homeland Security Appropriations Bills

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2216, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2014, and H.R. 2217, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2014:

“I applaud the House’s action this week to approve two appropriations bills, one that provides our active duty military and veterans with the support they need and deserve, and another that strengthens America’s homeland security efforts. House Republicans are committed to fiscal responsibility and these bills build on our efforts to cut waste and find savings while smartly funding our nation’s priorities.

“Under the open rules for H.R. 2216 and H.R. 2217, all Members were given the opportunity to offer amendments on the House floor and voice their opinions on the legislation.  I was pleased to hear the robust debate this week and to see the House successfully work its will on behalf of the American people.”
