Sessions Applauds Passage of Ozone Standards Implementation Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement on the House’s passage of a bill to facilitate efficient State implementation of ground-level ozone standards:

“In 2008 the EPA set updated ozone standards, yet did not publish its implementing regulations until nearly seven years later in March 2015. Later that year in October 2015, the EPA announced another new standard, forcing states to implement overlapping and stringent new standards simultaneously. Ozone levels have decreased nearly one-third since 1980, and continue to trend downward. Regulations can prove to be costly and burdensome to hard working Americans just trying to get their job done, and I continue to fight for common sense solutions to this problem. This important piece of legislation gives states a realistic timeframe to implement requirements and provides for them to do so in an efficient manner, and I applaud its passage.”
