Sessions: House Funds Homeland Security and Defends the Constitution

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 240, Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2015:

“Today House Republicans have delivered on our promise to consider legislation that blocks and reverses the President’s unilateral executive amnesty plan.  The President’s actions on executive amnesty are unlawful, unwise, and unconstitutional.  The underlying bill provides funding for agencies that are dedicated to protecting our homeland, while amendments attached to this legislation defend the Constitution and protect the rule of law.  House Republicans have voted to prevent federal funds from being used to implement the Obama Administration’s illegal unilateral actions or any other future step that circumvents our immigration laws.  I look forward to the Senate’s careful consideration of this bill and call on them to join the House in fighting for the Constitution and the rule of law.”
