Sessions: It's Time for the President to Join Us

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding the Require a PLAN Act:

"At a time when our economy is burdened with more than $16 trillion of debt and unemployment remains stubbornly high, it is simply unacceptable for the President to fail to submit a budget plan that ultimately eliminates the deficit and restores fiscal balance. Every single one of President Obama’s budget proposals has included endless deficit spending with no plan for ever reaching a balanced budget.

"Our nation’s budget deficits have exceeded a trillion dollars for the past four years on the President's watch – despite his promise to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term. If we do not reverse course immediately, we risk a serious debt crisis that will harm generations to come. The American people demand and deserve real solutions.

"That is why House Republicans have brought forth the Require a PLAN Act this week, a bill that calls on the President to put a proposal on the table that will achieve balance. In the coming weeks under the leadership of Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, the House will offer another serious budget plan to eliminate the deficit and restore confidence in our economy. It's time for the President to join us."
