Sessions Statement on the Farm Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2642, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013:

“The House took action today to ensure that America’s farmers, ranchers, and producers have the tools they need to provide families with affordable, safe, and reliable access to food. The Farm Bill is another example of House Republicans’ commitment to using taxpayer dollars responsibly by consolidating and streamlining programs to save nearly $20 billion. I’m pleased that this bill makes common-sense reforms to our nation’s agriculture policy and invests in meaningful conservation programs to benefit future generations of North Texans. I also want to thank Chairman Lucas and the Agriculture Committee for their dedicated efforts on the Farm Bill, which included four years of debate, 40 hearings, and an audit of every program under the committee’s jurisdiction.”
