Sessions Statement on House Plan to Keep the Gov’t Running, Stop ObamaCare, & Protect Our Troops

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.J. Res. 59, the Continuing Appropriations Resolution, and H.R. 3210, the Pay Our Military Act:

“Tonight House Republicans once again moved forward with a responsible plan to keep the government running while providing the American people with relief from ObamaCare. Our plan repeals the job-destroying medical device tax and delays ObamaCare for every American. The President has already admitted that his health care law is unworkable for businesses. Now it is time for his Administration to acknowledge that it won't work for individuals and families either.

“In addition to delaying ObamaCare and repealing one of its most onerous taxes, we approved a bill to ensure that our nation’s brave men and women in the military will get paid in the event of a government shutdown.  I stand proudly with my House Republican colleagues and urge Senate Democrats to join us in keeping the government open, stopping ObamaCare, and protecting our troops.”
