Sessions Statement on Short Term Funding Measure

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, today released the following statement after voting for a measure to provide funding for the government:

"As Members of Congress we are entrusted with the responsibility to effectively and responsibly fund our nation’s government. Today’s bill funds the government into the new year and increases spending to ensure our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to protect our freedom both at home and abroad. While I do not believe that short term funding measures are an effective tool, I believe that as a unified government in the coming 115th Congress we have an opportunity to implement thoughtful and deliberate legislative solutions that will be considered under a Republican Administration. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress and our new friend in the White House to put forth common sense policies that get our country back on the right track and make our nation safer and stronger."
