Sessions Supports Bill to Modernize Toxic Substances Control Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement on the House’s passage of a bill that modernizes the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, to identify and control unreasonable risks of injury to health or the environment from the manufacture, processing, distribution in commerce, use, and disposal of chemical substances, to facilitate interstate commerce:

"Today I proudly supported a bicameral, bipartisan bill that modernizes the antiquated Toxic Substances Control Act to improve chemical safety standards while encouraging economic growth and job creation. This common sense measure creates effective tools to ensure that chemicals ranging from household cleaners to materials used to make cars are safer for consumers. I applaud my colleagues for taking the deliberate and necessary steps to modernize outdated regulations, increase safety standards, and protect American consumers."
