Sessions Supports Comprehensive Energy Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of a comprehensive energy measure known as the “Architecture of Abundance,” which focuses on replacing outdated policies based on notions of energy scarcity and capitalizes on today’s era of energy richness in the U.S.:

“The idea behind H.R. 8 is simple: Americans should have access to affordable and reliable energy. H.R. 8 keeps in mind that we are experiencing a new era of energy abundance – which has ramped up manufacturing here at home and has allowed the U.S. to be more energy independent than we have been in some time – and comprehensively works to keep America at the forefront of energy production. By modernizing energy infrastructure, protecting the electricity system, strengthening energy security and diplomacy and improving energy efficiency and government accountability, H.R. 8 offers us the potential to make great strides in the energy realm and, most importantly, keep energy costs down for every consumer. It is my hope that our children and grandchildren will benefit from this historic measure and live in a world where thoughtful energy policies are a main focus, jobs are plentiful and economic prosperity is widespread.”
