Sessions Supports Pro-Life Bills

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of two pro-life measures that would defund Planned Parenthood and prevent an abortion provider from failing to deliver the proper care to an infant who survives an abortion or attempted abortion:

“As a father, I have always strongly believed that every effort should be made to protect and honor the sanctity of all human life. The horrific Planned Parenthood videos released this summer pulled back a curtain that abortion advocates have tried so hard to keep closed that exposes how horrifying these practices can be. As a collectively shocked nation, it is more important than ever to put an end to the cruelty and barbarism described in detail in these videos. Defunding Planned Parenthood – the largest provider of abortions in the United States – is an important step, and I was proud to vote to do that today. Further, I believe we must work tirelessly to fight for the rights of innocent babies who cannot fight for themselves. We have seen individuals who survived abortions live full and healthy lives, which is why I was pleased to support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act today to ensure we continue to defend our nation’s precious children and save lives.”
