Sessions Votes to Establish a Select Panel to Investigate Abortion Practices

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the House Rules Committee, today issued the following statement after voting in favor of a measure that would create a select panel within the Energy and Commerce Committee for the purposes of investigating abortion practices and the policies surrounding fetal tissue procurement:

“As a father, I have always strongly believed that every effort should be made to protect and honor the sanctity of all human life. The troubling Planned Parenthood videos released earlier this year have prompted the Committees of jurisdiction to conduct robust investigations into these barbaric practices, but they have come up with more questions than answers. A select panel – whose sole purpose is to examine these important issues and uncover facts – is necessary to ensure we as a Congress are doing all we can to promote lawfulness and to protect the lives of those who cannot protect themselves.”
