Sessions Votes to Impose Sanctions on Russia, North Korea, and Iran

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement applauding passage of a measure to impose sweeping sanctions on Russia, North Korea, and Iran:

"This is a critical measure and I was pleased to work with my colleagues to make this bill stronger and ensure that these three nations are held accountable for their vast and unrelenting acts of aggression. This bill made necessary and responsible changes to the Senate passed bill to ensure that Russians or foreign adversaries are not able to weaponize these sanctions against American job creators. In addition, as North Korea continues to grow their nuclear capabilities, I am pleased that we included sanctions on them to thwart the looming threat that they pose to our homeland.

"As a proud American and the voice for the people that I proudly represent, I wholeheartedly support these sanctions. I voted to show Mr. Putin, Kim Jong-un, and the thugs in Tehran that America will not stand idly by while they continue to attack our cyber security, continue to refuse to comply with international laws, and continue to illegally expand their nuclear arsenal."
