Sessions Votes to Repair Our Broken Health Care System

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement applauding the passage of two measures to fix our broken healthcare system:

“Today House Republicans took yet another step to fix our broken healthcare system. As we work to undo eight years of damage caused by Obamacare we have put forth a three part agenda to ensure we take effective measures to provide American families, doctors, and small businesses with the relief they need. While the Rules Committee has spent the entire day working on the first part, passing the American Health Care Act, the House has also initiated the third phase by passing two measures to supplement the reconciliation bill. These two bills will help create a competitive marketplace, allow individuals to pool together and form large group sizes to drive down insurance costs, and level the playing field so every single American has the opportunity to afford and obtain quality health care that meets their needs. I am proud to join my colleagues in supporting these two measures to reverse course on the death spiral of Obamacare and create a better health care system for the American people. While we still have a lot of work to do, we are up to the task to uphold our commitment and deliver results to the American people.”
