WASHINGTON, DC —Rules Committee Chairman James P. McGovern (D-MA) today submitted an amendment to H.R. 268, the Supplemental Appropriations Act, to prevent funding in the bill from being used to build President Trump's border wall. The amendment, which states that none of the funds in the bill for the Army Corps of Engineers or Department of Homeland Security may be used to plan, develop, or construct the border wall, comes as President Trump considers using disaster funding to build the wall. A vote on this amendment could come as soon as tomorrow.

Announcements

Dear Colleague,

As we begin the 118th Congress, the House Republican majority is committed to allowing all members to participate in the legislative process. As such, section 5(a) of H. Res. 5, Adopting the Rules of the House for the 118th Congress, provided a modified-open amendment process for consideration of H.R. 21, the Strategic Production Response Act. This marks the first time in nearly seven years that the House will consider legislation under a modified-open rule.
