First off, I want to start tonight by saying thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family and sent letters, flowers, and warm wishes our way. The loss of a child is something that I would never wish upon my worst enemy. Your thoughts and prayers have helped our family as we have dealt with this new reality, and we appreciate each of you more than you know.

I hope everyone on this committee, including our two panels and our staff, had a restful Thanksgiving and extended break. I have been around for a few Decembers after an election and can speak from experience that the time with friends and family is a blessing as we reach the final stretch of this Congress.

House Republicans promised the American people that we would cut bureaucratic red tape, put our economy on the right track, and lower energy costs. Securing American energy independence was a monumental achievement of the last Trump Administration. An achievement squandered by the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats over the last four years.
