WASHINGTON, DC – Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) said the submission of the three long-pending Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea as well as the announced Rules Committee action on H.R. 2832, the Trade Adjustment Assistance Extension Act of 2011, should set the stage for their ultimate approval in the very near future.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), House Rules Committee Chairman, is praising the 9-3 vote of the House Rules Committee to report the first open rule for House consideration in nearly four years. H.R. 2017, The Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2012, will be considered by the House today under an open rule. This allows any member to offer any germane amendment to the bill without a pre-printing requirement. The House last considered an appropriations bill under an open rule in July of 2007.

WASHINGTON, DC – The House Rules Committee moved tonight to provide an open floor process for the consideration of the largest discretionary spending cut in American history. The modified open rule reported by the Rules Committee will allow any member, Republican or Democrat, to offer a germane amendment to H.R.1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act, as long as it is pre-printed in the Congressional Record. Under the framework established by the rule, members will be able to file amendments until the House adjourns tomorrow, February 15, 2011.
